Where can I find info on NY Medicaid Health Insurance coverage?
So the college I applied to makes you pay about $2000 a semester for health insurance by default. However I have health insurance already [Medicaid/Affinity] in the state of New York so I need to fill out an insurance waiver so I don't have to pay it. 1) My plan offers coverage of at least $100,000 per condition per policy year. 2) My plan covers inpatient and outpatient medical care within 25 miles of the University at Buffalo campus area. (If your plan has a referral or prior authorization requirement for local medical services, you agree to obtain and receive such authorization) Emergency Only coverage does not satisfy this requirement. 3) My plan covers inpatient and outpatient mental health care within 25 miles of the University at Buffalo campus area. (If your plan has a referral or prior authorization requirement for local medical services, you agree to obtain and receive such authorization) Emergency Only coverage does not satisfy this requirement.' 4) My plan provides coverage for pre-existing conditions or I have met the pre-existing waiting period of my plan. 5) My plan provides prescription drug coverage (either as part of my medical plan or as a separate prescription plan). 6) My plan is currently active and I agree to maintain health insurance coverage through the entire 2011/2012 academic year. 7) I will retain my other insurance coverage for the entire Spring period(January 12, 2012 through August 21, 2012). If my current plan ends earlier, I will either purchase the SMI or other equivalent insurance plan within 31 days. Health Insurance coverage?
I am looking into health insurance for me and my daughter. I am a single mother who will be out of work for a minimum of 6 months (I will be student teaching). I am looking into Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance and need some help. The plans that I am looking into are 5K and 10K deductible, the 10K is about 50$ cheaper than the 5,000 deductilbe. Neither plan has emergency room coverage. I have only been to the emergency once since mfy daughter was born (she is 4 now). Should I have to go to the emergency room, I would have to pay the deductible. Is emergency room service that important? I cannot decide on which deducitble or if I should keep looking. Jsut want some thoughts on this. I've never been without a job so never had to shop for health insurance before.
