health insurance for child with epilepsy?
We are considering moving to the US for a work opportunity. However we have a 9 year old with epilepsy, currently well-managed with medication. Will we have a problem getting health insurance? My understanding is that this will be a huge expense if we can't get him insured. From what I can ascertain, it's possible to negotiate coverage for him through the company health plan. Is this correct? This will be the pivotal point for deciding whether or not to take the job. I've been doing some research - from what I can see, if we're in a group (which as part of a huge corporation we would be), there's probably going to be a waiting period of 6 to 12 months and then he would be OK. Do I have that right? this is confusing!

State Children?s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) - Is this Universal Healthcare?
Today I heard about a new program called the (SCHIP) that basically is health insurance for children of parents that are not offered health insurance. An explaination of the program is at http://www.familiesusa.org/assets/pdfs/SCHIP-101.pdf Hillary Clinton is saying that x number of people/children are not covered. Is she counting the 10 million kids on this program in her numbers? What about the illegals, are those being counted as well in her number. Is she exagerating her numbers to make a point? The House and Senate are about to pass a bill that will spend $60 billion over the next 5 years on this program. Isn't this a form of Universal Healthcare and doesn't $12 billion a year seem quite expensive for this?
